Breakfast review: Zenith Brunch and Cocktails
Zenith is a brunch place located between Av. da Liberdade and Jardim do Torel, open from 9am to 19pm.
As you enter the door you can find a melodic environment and colorful decorations, which they describe as “industrial chic”.
The place seems to attract a lot of customers, and by the time we arrived to Zenith at 11am, there was not a table available. However, after waiting for 3 minutes we were escorted to a big table, which we shared with another group of people.
It took a bit for the waiters to take our order, but once they did the service was fast. Our choices were the specials of the house: the zenith pancakes, the zenith eggs, and shakshuka. We accompanied that with fresh orange juice and two "americano" coffees that were really good quality.
The Zenith pancakes were topped with cheddar cheese, garlic mayonnaise, wild mushrooms, spinach, crispy onion, cherry tomatoes, chives and a poached egg. The pancakes were really fluffy, and the mushrooms were a nice touch of flavor, but the dish was missing something moist like a syrup or butter that you could soak them in. In general it is a very fulfilling and tasty dish for 9€.
Zenith eggs are breaded and poached eggs on a sourdough toast, topped with avocado, crispy onion, chives, cherry tomatoes and hollandaise sauce served with a side of a green salad (without dressing!) and crispy serrano ham. It is a good dish, although slightly underwhelming for a 9€ poached eggs dish. All the ingredients to make the perfect toast were there, but it did not meet our expectations.
The dish could benefit from some more avocado and sauce, and if you add a salad on a plate please season it.

Shakshuka is a North African is a dish consisting of eggs poached in a red pepper and tomato stew, topped with some coriander and served with sourdough toast.
For someone unfamiliar with this dish, it is a nice combination of flavors and can be very comforting food for cold weather. It was however missing some freshness of ingredients and was a bit low on the spices. For 9€ we could call it decent, but not at all amazing.
In general, all of the dishes are fulfilling. It is a big and sufficiently tasty breakfast after which you will not stay hungry.
Overall we would recommend brunch in Zenith. You can find really good fresh juices, coffee and a variety of breakfast classics like pancakes, toasts and eggs. They also offer sweet options like pancakes with ice cream and tapioca.
If you are looking for a nice breakfast or brunch with friends it is a place to visit.
